Better Together: Why Partnerships Work

The phrase “Better Together” is not a new concept; it’s an age-old adage that is proven time and time again. The truth of the matter is that everyone has a lid, which is why we have referred to the law of the lid before and why people can only go so far on their own. However, what if we can push past that lid and explode onto the scene like never before? With strategic partnerships, anyone and everyone can push past their own limits and remove the law of the lid from their equation. Here are three ways and reasons you can push past yourself, remove the lid and have strategic partnerships that work:

  1. Strategic partnerships make you better. On your own, you are limited in time and scope, not to mention limits and creativity. When you invite others into the process, you are inviting others to share in your passionate burden and grow past your previously determined limits. On your own, you can only accomplish so much, but with the counsel of others, you can navigate your environment with much better precision and effectiveness. On our own, we know how to work with and manage church plants and planters with our in-house project managers, but we also know that when we work together with projects managers from church planting groups, we are bound to push past limits and create a much more epically sustainable scenario for our clients.
  2. Surround yourself with people that are smarter than you. The best example of someone doing this is the President of the United States. Sure, it’s quite an extreme example and one that is quite different than you would find in our posts, but it just works. While the President is surely capable on his own, he surrounds himself immediately with a cabinet that are experts in their own field. One of the most common mistakes people make is thinking they can and should do everything on their own. Certainly, that is not the case, nor should it be. That’s why we lean heavily on experts in our field who are much smarter than us, so we can learn from them, make adjustments, and set a stronger course forward.
  3. Even the Lone Ranger had Tonto. Have you heard the phrase, “Don’t be a Lone Ranger”? We have, but we push back on this and ask, “Why not?” The Lone Ranger had Tonto, and was much better because of it. They worked together, had each other’s backs, and knew everything about the other person. Isn’t that what you want out of your partnerships? You want people who can make you better and stronger. You want people to have your back when the stuff hits the fan. You want people who know you intimately, because that means they will know your blind spots and help you navigate around them.

When it comes down to it, we’re better together. We have acknowledged that we can only go so far on our own. That’s why our staff are all experts in their own field, and why we lean on strategic partnerships to help us move further down the road of success. It’s not just great for us, it’s great for them, which means it’s great for everyone and we all win.
