Enduring Word: A WordPress Migration for Millions of Readers
  • Client: David Guzik at Enduring Word
  • Project: enduringword.com
  • What We Built: Host migration, custom framework, migration plugin, new design
  • Who it Services: Bible readers, teachers, and pastors

Pastor David Guzik started writing Bible teaching notes for his own classes. Other people found them useful. More than 30 years later, Enduring Word is a free, verse-by-verse commentary on all 66 books of the Bible. More than 10,000 pages of it.

That’s not a site you want to break. Readers bookmark these pages. Pastors link to them. Search engines send people to them every day. Move it wrong and all of that goes dark.

A WordPress migration with no room for error.

So we moved carefully. A new host came first. Then a custom framework to hold it all. Then a custom WordPress plugin that carried over thousands of posts with their URL structure in place. Last came the part people see: a new layout and new visuals.

Today the pages are where readers left them. The design is cleaner. And the commentary keeps doing what it has done for three decades.
